Arizona Trip

We started our Arizona trip by flying into Scottsdale in November.  We found November it to be a great time to enjoy the area as the weather is mild and the crowds are smaller.

Inn at Eagle Mountain

While in Scottsdale we stayed in the Inn at Eagle Mountain  – a golf course resort area just a few miles from old town Scottsdale. The facility  has a beautiful view of the mountains and Scottsdale valley. The suites are large and tastefully tucked into the mountain side. Saguaro cactus and desert scenery contrast beautifully with the greenery of the resort and golf course.

Saguaro Cactus at Eagle Mountain

The Saguaro cactus is unique to the Phoenix desert valley. The cactus is highly adapted to the desert environment of the region and is a home for a variety of birds and animals.

Room at Eagle Mountain Inn

The rooms at Eagle Mountain are very large with fireplace and a nice balcony overlooking the golf resort and mountain valley.

Located near Eagle Mountain is the relatively new community of Fountain Hills. Fountain Hills was established in 1970 by McCulloch Properties development corporation. The community was named after the fountain orginally installed by McCulloch Properties as a tourist attraction. Today the fountain is maintained by the city and goes off every hour looking much like a natural geiser.  The fountain is located in the center of the park that includes a shopping center and  a number of nice restrauntants. On weekends and holidays, the park is also home to crafters that show their artful products. We had a nice meal at a restraunt with a beautiful view of the fountain and mountains in the background. Fountain city is home to a number of excellent golf courses and resorts including Eagle Mountain, Desert Canyon Golf Club, SunRidge Canyon Golf, and FireRock Country Golf Club to mention a few.
